Linux Mint 22 Wilma released
The Linux Mint community has announced the release of Linux Mint 22 Wilma, a stable release of beginner-friendly GNU/Linux distribution project based on Ubuntu. Linux Mint 22 Wilma inherits from the Ubuntu 24.04 LTS branch and will be supported until 2029.
As usual, Linux Mint 22 brings updated packages and applications to make the user experience better. It includes core package updates and over-the-hood improvements.

- The default sound server is now Pipewire

- Unlike Ubuntu, Linux Mint ships Thunderbird as Debian.
- Performance improvements in the Software Manager to load faster.
- Unverified flatpaks are disabled by default to prevent users from possible risks.
- Matrix was introduced as an open IRC with additional features.
