Xubuntu
Xubuntu is a lightweight and complete GNU/Linux distribution based on Ubuntu. It combines the stability and security of Ubuntu with the Xfce desktop environment, known for its speed and low resource use.
Xubuntu is one of the earliest official Ubuntu community flavors. It is widely used by people who want a simple, reliable, and efficient desktop. It also fits well on older computers, notebooks, and systems with limited hardware resources.
Unlike a plain Xfce setup, Xubuntu includes several refinements. These include a clean GTK and icon theme, the Whisker application menu, and a set of well-chosen wallpapers. Together, they give Xubuntu a polished and consistent look while keeping it fast and responsive.
A lighter edition called Xubuntu Core is also available. It offers a minimal desktop with the vanilla Xfce environment and fewer default packages. Xubuntu Core is ideal for users who want to build their system from the ground up.
